Baker Donelson opened its Houston office in 2011. Today the office has grown to more than 25 attorneys representing leading businesses in the Houston area and throughout the United States.

Mirroring the rich and varied economic base of the Houston area, the Houston office has strong practices serving the business community in the construction, energy, financial services, health care, manufacturing, professional services, real estate, technology and transportation sectors.

Our Houston team is highly regarded for its ability to respond quickly to and address catastrophic events – such as disputes arising from the BP oil spill and serious transport-related accidents.

Our Houston office has notable strength in a number of areas. Legal Collections Specialist

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC has an immediate opening for a Legal Collections Specialist. Candidate may reside in Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Houston, Jackson, Knoxville, Memphis, Atlanta, or New Orleans areas. The position is remote other than the 2nd and 4th mandatory Wednesdays of each month.

Salary is based upon years of experience and location.

Responsible for collection activities such as collaborating with client (billing) attorneys regarding their aged a/r. Sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating with past due accounts. Document and maintain accurate records. Know commonly used collection concepts, practices, and procedures. Use firm established guidelines and procedures to perform the functions of the job. Maintain ambitious standards and professional collection activities and support. This position is considered professional level. Reports directly to the Client Accounts Manager. Daily contacts include but are not limited to the Director of Revenue Services, CEO, COO, CFAO, Managing Shareholder, Office Administrators, Accounting, Finance, Administration, Attorney, and Secretaries.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Compile information for reporting of the progress of collections and accounts receivable aging.
  2. Analyze, investigate, and clarify problem
  3. Report problem and/or doubtful accounts to appropriate parties (CEO, COO, Managing Shareholders, Office Administrator, CFAO, Director of Revenue Services).
  4. Facilitate and expedite the allocations of aged accounts
  5. Monitor the opening of new matters for existing clients with collection and/or write-off issues.
  6. Monitor accounts with collection
  7. Oversee automatic rebilling for the Firm, making sure that waivers and reminders are being generated and mailed.
  8. Follow up on approved electronically billed
  9. Monitor receivable write-offs for the
  10. Manage any client/attorney
  11. Participate in monthly Client Accounts meetings to report collection
  12. Assist Manager with compiling, tracking, and monitoring Firm fiscal year end process as requested.
  13. Manages other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Revenue Qualifications will include:
  14. Computer experience with knowledge of Word, Excel, Collections software
  15. ARCS and ADERANT a plus
  16. Must have good organizational, communication and math skills.
  17. Must be detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  18. Ability to use good judgement and discretion in establishing and maintaining relationships with attorneys, staff, and clients.
  19. Overtime may be required.
  20. Travel may be required.

Financial Services Associate – All Offices (Charlotte or Raleigh, NC preferred) (#790)

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C. seeks a mid-level associate with four or more years of debt finance experience to join its thriving Financial Services Transaction practice. Specific experience representing lenders and borrowers on leveraged finance transactions, including drafting and negotiating credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, security agreements and other primary loan documents, as well as managing transaction closings and supervising junior associates and paralegals is preferred. Experience with mezzanine finance or other private credit funds is a plus. Privacy Counseling Associate – All Offices (Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston, Nashville, New Orleans, Raleigh, Washington, D.C. Preferred) (#791)

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C. seeks a mid-level associate with two or more years of experience in privacy law to join its thriving Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team. The associate will advise clients on emerging privacy considerations and issues, draft policies and data protection addendum, and provide general privacy counseling. Specific experience in one or more of the following areas: consumer privacy; ad tech and related privacy concerns, comprehensive state privacy laws, such as the CCPA; federal privacy laws, such as GLBA, FCRA, COPPA, and the FTC Act; health information privacy (including human subjects research); and state laws (CCPA, CMIA, Washington My Health My Data Act, Nevada SB 370) health care privacy laws; artificial intelligence laws (CO AI Act, EU AI Act); and international data transfer, privacy and localization laws and regimes, such as the EU’s GDPR. The ideal candidate should have experience drafting privacy policies, negotiating privacy-related contracts and data processing agreements (BAAs, DPAs, DUAs), providing product counseling, and conducting privacy compliance assessments.
