The New Orleans office of Baker Donelson was founded on February 14, 2004 by 14 outstanding lawyers from two different law firms.
The groups came together under the leadership of Roy Cheatwood and Donna Fraiche, who remain luminaries in the fields of litigation and health care law, respectively. Today the Firm, which has a presence in the city's Central Business District, as well as in Mandeville, a burgeoning community north of Lake Pontchartrain, and in Baton Rouge, boasts more than 80 top-notch Louisiana attorneys who act as trusted advisors and advocates to businesses and business people.
The lawyers of the New Orleans office provide a full array of business legal services, and have received particular recognition in the fields of commercial litigation, bankruptcy and creditors' rights, construction, health care, real estate transactions and litigation, railroad, admiralty, maritime financing, oil and gas and labor and employment. Attorneys in this office are routinely recognized nationally in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers, and locally in New Orleans Magazine Top Lawyers, as well as City Business Leaders in Law and Women in Leadership.
The office is well known for its culture and its commitment to the community. The lawyers and staff consider themselves members of a family, and focus on helping each other and the greater New Orleans community. Members of the Baker Donelson office serve as board members, volunteers and supporters for numerous charitable organizations, including Ozanam Inn, Second Harvest, the Ronald McDonald House, the National World War II Museum and the Homeless Experience Legal Protection project. They hold leadership positions in numerous national and local bar and business associations as well.
The lawyers, paralegals, assistants and those other valuable office members who support them work together to put the Firm's clients first as they carry out their daily routines. This over-arching mission contributes to our culture of unparalleled client service.
