Sean's practice centers on commercial bankruptcy and restructuring matters across a broad range of industries, including construction, financial services, equipment and vehicle leasing and finance, food service, health care, livestock, manufacturing, maritime, oil and gas, and real estate.

As a seasoned bankruptcy attorney, Sean has counseled and represented secured and unsecured creditors, financial institutions, bondholders, noteholders, lessors, commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) servicers, and trade creditors in foreclosure, workout, and insolvency matters across a wide array of industries before state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. He has represented trade vendors, interest holders, and service providers in numerous energy restructuring matters, as well as in preference and fraudulent transfer avoidance actions. Sean has also represented pre- and post-petition lenders in single-asset real estate and operating company bankruptcy cases and related guarantor liability litigation, and has advised equipment and heavy machinery lessors, vendors, and contractors in the reorganizations of excavation, construction, and midstream energy companies.

Prior to entering private practice, Sean served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Leticia Z. Paul of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and the Honorable Terry Jennings of the Court of Appeals of Texas, First District.

  • Acted as co-counsel to a debtor-in-possession (DIP) lender in Serta Simmons bankruptcy cases in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Served as co-counsel to the agent for pre-petition secured and DIP lenders in the Tailored Brands bankruptcy cases before the Southern District of Texas.

  • Represented a purchaser of debtor assets in the Approach Resources bankruptcy cases filed in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Served as co-counsel to the agent for pre-petition asset-based lending (ABL) lenders in Belk, Inc. bankruptcy cases.

  • Acted as co-counsel to the agent for pre-petition secured lenders in Monitronics, Inc. bankruptcy cases before the Southern District of Texas.

  • Represented, as co-counsel, a First Out Tranche A secured lender in Steward Health Care bankruptcy cases.

  • Served as co-counsel to an equipment financier in Ascend Performance Materials bankruptcy cases in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Represented service contract counterparties in Partners Pharmacy Services, TPI Composites, Envision Healthcare, Akumin, Inc., KAL Freight, Hearthside Food Solutions, 4E Brands North America bankruptcy cases in the Southern District of Texas and in Genesis Healthcare in the Northern District of Texas.

  • Acted as counsel to a debtor's treasury management bank in Global Wound Care Medical Group and Benefytt Technologies bankruptcy cases filed in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Represented a senior secured lender in the BRH-Garver Construction bankruptcy cases.

  • Served as co-counsel to a coalition of potentially responsible parties in connection with a superfund site in California Resources Corporation bankruptcy cases in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Served as co-counsel to a secured lender in Soft Surroundings Holdings bankruptcy cases.

  • Represented royalty interest owners in Amazing Energy bankruptcy cases in the Eastern District of Texas.

  • Acted as counsel to a senior secured lender in Coast Drilling Land Company case in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Served as co-counsel to the agent for pre-petition secured lenders in Stage Stores bankruptcy cases.

  • Acted as co-counsel to an international oil and gas exploration and production company in Diamond Offshore Drilling bankruptcy cases.

  • Represented the former officer of the debtor in Ebony Media Operations bankruptcy cases.

  • Represented a potential asset purchaser in Templar Energy bankruptcy cases filed in the District of Delaware.

  • Served as co-counsel to a DIP lender in Warrior Golf bankruptcy cases filed in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Acted as co-counsel to a secured noteholder group in Frontera Holdings bankruptcy cases.

  • Served as co-counsel in federal court to the pre-petition secured lender and DIP lender in cross-border bankruptcy cases ENTREC Corporation.

  • Represented a junior secured lender and hedge counterparty in Activa Resources and Remnant Oil Company bankruptcies in the Western District of Texas; Buzzards Bench bankruptcy in the Southern District of Texas; and Nine Point Energy bankruptcy in the District of Delaware.

  • Represented oil and gas exploration and production companies as creditors and predecessors in title in Fieldwood Energy bankruptcy cases in the Southern District of Texas.

  • Served as co-counsel to a railcar lessor in Covia Holdings bankruptcy cases.

  • Represented landlords in several retail bankruptcy cases, including Payless ShoeSource in the Eastern District of Missouri; Mattress Firm in the District of Delaware; J.C. Penney, CEC Entertainment, and Party City in the Southern District of Texas; and Cinemex Holdings in the Southern District of Florida.

  • Represented the agent for pre-petition secured lenders and post-petition lenders in Lockwood Holdings bankruptcy case.

  • Represented a transportation service agreement counterparty in litigation concerning enforcement of claim in Linn Energy/Berry Petroleum bankruptcy cases.

  • Served as co-counsel to energy financing investors concerning enforcement of claims in GenOn Energy, Inc. bankruptcy cases.

  • Assisted in the representation of secured pre-petition lenders, post-petition lenders, and asset purchasers in ATP Oil & Gas bankruptcy and ancillary litigation.

  • Served as co-counsel to an ad hoc group of noteholders in Midstates Petroleum Company bankruptcy cases.

  • Acted as co-counsel to the agent for first-lien lenders in Stone Energy bankruptcy cases.

  • Served as co-counsel to a noteholder group in Ultra Petroleum bankruptcy cases.

  • Acted as counsel to the purchaser of debtor assets in the Trinity River Resources bankruptcy case in the Western District of Texas.

  • Represented a mineral interest owner in the Swift Energy bankruptcy proceedings filed in the District of Delaware.

  • Assisted in the representation of a secured lender in TMT Procurement Corporation bankruptcy cases.

  • Assisted in the representation of vendors and former employees in Seahawk Drilling bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Assisted in the representation of a secured lender to a hydraulic fracturing proppants producer in Oxane Materials bankruptcy.

  • Assisted in the representation of equipment lenders in Sanjel (USA) bankruptcy cases in the Western District of Texas.

  • Represented a mineral interest owner in RAAM Global Energy bankruptcy cases.
