Sabrina Marquez is an associate in Baker Donelson's Baltimore office, whose practice focuses on complex, high stakes defense and investigations. She represents corporations and individuals in government investigations, enforcement and whistleblower actions, civil rights litigation, and class actions, and she regularly assists clients across multiple industries with internal investigations and regulatory compliance.

Sabrina has substantial experience defending health care providers and entities in state and federal inquiries nationwide, including matters involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act and the Anti Kickback Statute. Her litigation practice includes defending public entities and private companies in complex matters in federal court, including jury trials involving municipalities facing constitutional claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. She also has class action defense experience, including securing dismissals in product defect cases for major domestic automotive manufacturers.

Before joining Baker Donelson, Sabrina served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Douglas R. M. Nazarian of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. That experience informs her practical, court tested approach to litigation and investigations.

  • Represented numerous health care providers and entities in state and federal civil and criminal investigations nationwide involving alleged violations of state and federal False Claims Acts and the Anti-Kickback Statute, while conducting parallel internal investigations into the same.

  • Assisted in the defense of municipalities concerning constitutional claims including 42 U.S.C. 1983 actions, and co-chaired two federal jury trials that required numerous witness interviews, depositions, and examinations.

  • Conducted an internal investigation for an accreditation provider related to HIPAA concerns. The investigation included numerous witness interviews, legal and policy analysis, and preparation of a confidential report for the client with key investigative findings and recommendations.

  • Assisted in the defense of a major domestic automotive manufacturer in a putative class action in the Central District of California involving allegations of defective exhaust manifolds in best-selling trucks. Participated in drafting the motion to dismiss, which was granted in its entirety.

  • Assisted in the defense of a major domestic automotive manufacturer in a putative class action in the Eastern District of Michigan involving allegations of defective shifter bushings in a series of vehicles. Participated in drafting the motion to dismiss, which was granted in its entirety on prudential mootness grounds.
