Mr. Wehlen is an experienced trial lawyer whose practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, professional liability, and appellate matters. He represents businesses, insurers, and professionals in state and federal courts nationwide, guiding clients through high‑stakes disputes with a practical, results‑oriented approach.

Mr. Wehlen's commercial litigation practice spans breach of contract, construction, business torts, and complex liability disputes. He has significant trial and arbitration experience and is frequently involved at the earliest stages of litigation, helping clients assess risk, shape strategy, and pursue efficient resolutions. His experience includes insurance coverage and bad faith litigation.

Mr. Wehlen also has a robust appellate practice, representing clients in state and federal courts at all stages of appeal. He handles briefing, oral argument, and writ proceedings, and works closely with trial teams before judgment and during pre‑ and post‑trial motion practice to preserve key issues and position matters for appellate success.

  • Represented a law firm in a fee dispute on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

  • Represented a nursing home defendant as post-trial and appellate counsel.

  • Represented a major manufacturer of computer equipment in a breach of contract and unfair trade practices action involving claims exceeding $1 billion, plus punitive damages, filed in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Louisiana.

  • Successfully defended arbitration claims against managers and members of a Louisiana LLC.

  • Successfully represented a bank in litigating bad faith claims against an insurance company that declined to defend covered claims.

  • Successfully represented a bank in defending numerous cases arising from a Ponzi scheme operated by an unaffiliated third party.

  • Represented parties in construction and lien matters, including construction companies and public entities.
