Mary is an associate in the Firm's Nashville office and a member of the Advocacy Department. She represents clients in a wide range of disputes, with a particular focus on health care and general business litigation. She is skilled in performing groundwork case investigations, including interviewing key witnesses, analyzing relevant documentation, and evaluating case strategy, to position matters for efficient and favorable resolution. She has assisted in multiple matters that culminated in favorable settlements for clients and enjoys using her writing and reasoning skills to pursue outcomes that support each client's broader business objectives.
Mary has broad and varied litigation experience and has assisted in defending against claims of fraud, conspiracy, and civil racketeering, as well as personal injury torts, breach of contract disputes, and other business torts. In her health care practice, Mary has assisted in representing providers in complex payor disputes by reviewing and analyzing large volumes of documents, preparing deposition outlines, assisting in preparing witnesses for deposition, and drafting a variety of motions and other submissions. She advocates for long-term care providers in responding to and defending against negligence claims.
Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mary served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Sarah K. Campbell of the Tennessee Supreme Court, where she researched legal issues and drafted memoranda on pending cases. Additionally, Mary served as a law clerk with the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General, Solicitor General's Office, where she assisted with writing and editing appellate briefs for the Tennessee Court of Appeals and Tennessee Supreme Court. She also researched and provided recommendations on possibilities for appeal. Additionally, Mary served as a law clerk for the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, drafting appellate briefs and researching legal issues pertaining to pending indictments.
