A member of the Firm's Construction Group, Ms. Gomez represents and counsels owners, contractors, suppliers, and design professionals throughout the United States. From drafting project contracts to litigating defect and delay claims, she provides her clients with tailored and thoughtful advice, action, and solutions.
Ms. Gomez has particular knowledge and experience related to construction defect and delay claims; the proper handling of project retainage; contractor and design professional licensing requirements; and the preservation, filing, and defense of materialmen's liens. She advises clients on all types of commercial, public, and residential projects, including hotels, multifamily developments, single-family homes, commercial tenant improvements, wind farms, battery energy storage systems, manufacturing facilities, military barracks, public highways, prisons, and rocket launch towers. Ms. Gomez represents project owners, developers, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on these projects, and deeply understands the unique roles and responsibilities of each of these players on any respective project. She is also able to communicate with clients and witnesses in Spanish when necessary.
In addition to her construction practice, Ms. Gomez has represented clients in business litigation matters involving telecommunications, utility, and railroad entities in litigation, tax, and regulatory matters across the country. She also litigates cases involving malpractice, professional liability, intellectual property, and contract disputes.
A graduate of Emory University School of Law, Ms. Gomez was a student member of the Emory International Humanitarian Law Clinic and served as president of the Emory Immigration Law Practice Society. She interned with the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Labor, and The Coca-Cola Company.
