Mr. Pocock has appeared in state and federal courts across the eastern United States and has appeared in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association, National Arbitration Forum, JAMS, and The Arbitration Forum. Mr. Pocock further has an established record of success in appellate advocacy before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of North Carolina, Supreme Court of Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Pocock has represented a diverse array of businesses in resolving commercial contract issues, protecting trade secrets, and navigating employment noncompetition agreements.
In the construction arena, Mr. Pocock advocates for general contractors and subcontractors on both public, bonded projects and private, nonbonded work, bringing deep experience to every phase of construction litigation. He has also defended architects and engineers in design defect cases and other professional responsibility matters.
His financial services litigation experience is extensive. He has represented banks and non-bank financial institutions in consumer lending disputes, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) matters, as well as lien avoidance actions in bankruptcy. He also advises lenders and special servicers in commercial secured lending disputes.
