Professional Biography


Mr. Caldwell is an associate in Baker Donelson's New Orleans office and a member of the Advocacy Department. He assists clients throughout Louisiana's state and federal courts in various industries, including hospitality, sports and entertainment, technology, logistics, and retail.

Mr. Caldwell advises clients on trademark and copyright issues, complex torts, products liability, and bet-the-company litigations. His trial experience includes successfully arguing on behalf of nationally recognized companies in multimillion-dollar matters.

Additionally, Mr. Caldwell assists clients in contracts litigation, including matters involving allegations of financial impropriety, contractual disputes, and bank and wire fraud.

  • Advised a biotech client on issues regarding protection of intellectual property, enforcement of digital contracts, and validating online transactions.

  • Successfully petitioned on behalf of a tech client for the removal of websites misappropriating a website domain and imitating the client's brand.

  • Successfully argued for and obtained dismissal of claims on behalf of a nation retail chain in a large scale multi-district litigation.

  • Deposed expert witnesses and made appearances in federal court on behalf of a national retail chain in a consumer products case with four multi-national corporation defendants.

  • Successfully presented oral arguments on behalf of a technology company in multimillion-dollar vehicular accident case.

  • Successfully argued against a protective order in copyright case, leading to the CEO of a large multimedia conglomerate being required to sit for deposition.

  • Settled a dog bite case on behalf of the defendant for less than 10 percent of the plaintiff's exhibited damages despite Louisiana's principle of strict liability for dog owners.

  • Successfully overturned a default judgment on a contractual dispute for a national restaurant chain and settled claims for a fraction of the initial award.

  • Performed examinations of a defendant in federal court for bank and wire fraud and successfully exposed attempts to conceal financial documents, leading to the arrest of the defendant.

  • Successfully argued for and obtained dismissal of all claims against a national loan servicing company in federal court.

  • Successfully presented oral arguments against dismissal of claims on behalf of a national servicing agent.

  • Settled distribution of funds claims on behalf of a claimant bank for above value of claim.
