Former Tennessee Senior Legislative Advisor Jacob D. Baggett Joins Baker Donelson as Public Policy Advisor

The national law firm of Baker Donelson has added former Tennessee Senate senior legislative advisor Jacob D. Baggett as a public policy advisor in the Firm's Nashville office.

Mr. Baggett assists companies, organizations, and associations in navigating legislative and regulatory matters in Tennessee. He serves clients in industries such as manufacturing, health care, transportation, automotive, energy, real estate, and financial services, as well as educational institutions, local governments, and economic development districts. His work includes advising clients who interact with the state government on constructing plans around legislative and/or executive branch priorities and initiatives, assisting companies in negotiating economic incentives, and providing regulatory counsel.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mr. Baggett served as senior legislative advisor to Tennessee Senate Republican Caucus Chairman Ken Yager and consulted on election strategy for the Caucus. He served as campaign manager for former Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell's campaign for governor in 2018 and practiced as a public policy attorney at a law firm in Tennessee. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern to Chief Justice Gary R. Wade of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

J. Allen Roberts, managing shareholder of the Firm's Nashville office, said, "Jacob is a welcome addition to our team in Nashville. He brings exceptional experience and skill that will be instrumental in ensuring our clients stay current with regulatory and legislative developments in the state."

Lang Wiseman, a shareholder in Baker Donelson's Nashville office and former Deputy Governor and Chief Counsel to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, added, "An effective public policy strategy is critical to success in today's business climate, and Jacob is uniquely qualified to give our clients the deep governmental insights and advice they need to achieve their goals."

A graduate of the Lincoln Memorial University, John J. Duncan, Jr. School of Law, Mr. Baggett also serves as executive director of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature Foundation, a civics-minded nonprofit.
