Overview

More than 32 states and the District of Columbia have passed legislation allowing for legal medical marijuana programs, and eight states (California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Alaska) have passed laws allowing for legal recreational marijuana businesses. Additionally, the United States Drug Enforcement Agency has adopted an application for federally-approved marijuana production for research purposes.
