Professional Biography


Ms. Guyton has a broad range of experience at the trial and appellate levels. She has extensive experience representing financial institutions in a wide variety of matters, including mortgage servicing litigation and other mortgage-related matters, lender liability claims, wrongful foreclosures, and claims of unfair and deceptive trade practices.

She is also experienced in construction litigation matters, and regularly represents engineering and construction companies, especially program managers. Her employment law experience includes defending clients against nationwide collective actions brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and against charges of race discrimination, sex discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation. Additionally, Ms. Guyton defends clients in business tort, personal injury and wrongful death, bankruptcy and collection matters, and assists clients in a variety of business transactions, including corporate acquisitions and obtaining tax and economic incentives.

While attending law school, Ms. Guyton served as an intern for the Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana.

  • Advised numerous clients in connection with earning and selling Louisiana Motion Picture Investor Tax Credits.

  • Successfully dismissed claims brought against a program manager by a subcontractor on a multi-million dollar public project.

  • Successfully represented a company in suit against an independent contractor for trade dress infringement and unfair competition.

  • Successfully defended a major credit card company in an arbitration claiming $200,000 in unauthorized charges.

  • Won summary judgment for a major bank in a federal lawsuit alleging the bank violated state law by transferring money to a hacker rather than the intended recipient.
