Baker Donelson's Tenia L. Clayton Appointed Vice Chair of ABA Washington Health Law Summit

Baker Donelson attorney Tenia L. Clayton has been named vice chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA) Health Law Section Washington Health Law Summit for the 2024 – 2025 term. Leadership appointments within the ABA Health Law Section are a recognition of one's abilities, dedication, and commitment to the Section.

Ms. Clayton was previously awarded the ABA Health Law Section Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship for the 2024 – 2025 term, a leadership and career development award that a maximum of only five attorneys receives each year.

The Washington Health Law Summit is a leading forum for health care lawyers to hear directly from government officials, industry leaders, and subject matter authorities about the legal and regulatory developments shaping the health care sector. Now in its 24th year, the 2025 Summit will take place December 8 – 9 in Washington, D.C.

An associate in Baker Donelson's Nashville office and member of the Firm's Health Law Group, Ms. Clayton focuses her practice on corporate and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions. She counsels hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, and physician-owned practices on a variety of compliance matters, such as physician employment, fraud and abuse review, and the corporate practice of medicine. Additionally, she advises organ procurement organizations on federal and state regulatory and compliance issues, analysis and implication of proposed rules, and related distinct issues.

Ms. Clayton is a member of the American Health Law Association, Leadership Health Care, and the Napier-Looby Bar Association. She also serves as co-chair of the Baker Women Recruiting and Retention Committee. In 2023, she was named a Top 40 Under 40 by The National Black Lawyers, and she was listed in the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for Health Care Law.

Ms. Clayton earned a B.A. in Human Health from Emory University and completed a term of service with AmeriCorps before attending Belmont University College of Law, where she graduated cum laude and obtained a certificate in Health Law.
