FEMA Seeks Public Comments on Future Program Delivery by June 21

On April 22, FEMA released a request for information to the public seeking comments on specific FEMA programs, regulations, collections of information, and policies for the agency to consider in light of recent Executive Orders. All comments should be submitted by Monday, June 21. FEMA seeks input pursuant to the processes required specifically by:

  • EO 13985 on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government

  • EO 13990 on Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis

  • EO 14008 on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad

As noted by FEMA in the Federal Register Notice, "these efforts aim to help FEMA ensure that its programs, regulations, and policies contain necessary, properly tailored, and up-to-date requirements that effectively achieve FEMA's mission in a manner that furthers the goals of advancing equity for all, including those in underserved communities, bolstering resilience from the impacts of climate change, particularly for those disproportionately impacted by climate change, and environmental justice."

For more background on the specific Executive Orders referenced and the information being sought by FEMA, see the Federal Register Notice and request for information. Comments should be submitted by Monday, June 21, via the Federal eRulemaking Portal, Docket ID: FEMA-2021-0011.
