Baker Donelson's Layna Cook Rush Earns Additional Information Privacy Certification

Layna Cook Rush of Baker Donelson has earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Originally launched in 2004 as the first professional certification ever offered in information privacy, the CIPP has become the preeminent credential in the field. A CIPP credential means the recipient has gained a foundational understanding of privacy and data protection law and practice, and has knowledge of jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models. Ms. Rush holds the CIPP/C concentration, which focuses on Canadian information privacy laws, principles and practices at the federal, provincial and territorial levels. She previously earned her CIPP/US credential, which focuses on the U.S. private sector.

Ms. Rush is a shareholder in Baker Donelson's Baton Rouge office and a member of the Firm's Health Law Group and the Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team. She routinely assists clients with managed care contracting and compliance with state and federal regulations that affect health care entities and advises clients on state and federal laws related to privacy and security of personal information, including HIPAA, Part 2 substance abuse laws, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act and state laws related to privacy and breach notification requirements.
