Andrew Kaplan Named Co-Chair of Baker Donelson's Real Estate Group

The national law firm Baker Donelson has named Andrew Kaplan co-chair of the Firm's Real Estate Group. He will serve alongside Jeffrey M. Pomeroy, who has served as chair of the Group since 2024 and will continue serving as co-chair. Mr. Kaplan will maintain his legal practice while serving in this leadership role.

"Andrew has built a strong reputation across the Mid-Atlantic region for his work in commercial real estate transactions, development projects, financings, and complex deal structuring," said Baker Donelson Chair and Chief Executive Officer Timothy M. Lupinacci. "He is widely respected for fostering collaboration among attorneys and leading client teams with efficiency, clarity, and professionalism, and his breadth of experience, along with Jeff's continued leadership, positions us well to meet evolving market opportunities and client needs."

Mr. Kaplan is a shareholder in Baker Donelson's Princeton, New Jersey, office, which opened in April 2025. His practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions, multifamily apartment building transactions, secured lending, and corporate matters, and he has worked with clients in industries ranging from food producers and fast-casual restaurant brands to emerging companies, apartment building owners, developers, health care providers, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, outpatient facilities, and medical office building owners and operators.

"I am honored to serve as co-chair of the Real Estate Group alongside Jeff as we continue to grow and build on the Group's strong foundation," said Mr. Kaplan. "Our attorneys bring significant experience across the full lifecycle of real estate transactions, and I look forward to working together to expand our platform, strengthen client relationships, and guide the Group through the next phase of its development."

Mr. Kaplan has particular experience advising borrowers in senior secured and unsecured credit facilities, first- and second-lien transactions, syndicated and bilateral financings, mezzanine financings, mortgage loans, and cash-flow, asset-based, and split-lien transactions. He advises clients in the negotiation and structuring of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, financing transactions, and commercial real estate matters, as well as general business organization and contract issues.

Mr. Kaplan earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College. He was previously listed in New Jersey Rising Stars by Super Lawyers for Business/Corporate, and he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Health Care Law since 2024.
