Alex Marriott concentrates his practice on aviation regulatory and policy matters, as well as competition issues in the aviation industry.

Professional Biography


Alex counsels and represents airlines, airports, and related travel industry members on a wide range of matters before the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Department of State (DOS). He has extensive experience in the start-up of both domestic and foreign airlines from Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. Alex guides these airlines through regulatory processes to obtain economic authority from the DOT, technical approvals from the FAA, and approvals from the DHS and its components, as well as addressing issues under international bilateral aviation agreements and aviation treaties.

Alex advises airlines about competition issues, enforcement and fitness matters, and day-to-day operational matters, including regulatory compliance, important rulemakings and legislation, and international route authority.

Alex also focuses on logistical and security matters in the transportation industry, including the cross-border transportation of cargo, and has extensive experience in representing clients during enforcement actions by the FAA, DOT, TSA, and CBP.

In addition, Alex's practice includes assisting business aviation clients of all sizes and mission profiles navigate a variety of transactions and the complex regulatory challenges that come with owning, operating, and chartering aircraft.
