Michael Catalano has more than 20 years of experience in various leadership roles in-house, including chief operating officer and general counsel. He has worked in highly regulated industries such as health care, gaming, government contracts, life sciences, and engineering. As COO, he was responsible for all day-to-day operations for more than 400 employees and as general counsel, for all legal aspects, including contracts, human resources, intellectual property and licensing, and export control.
Mr. Catalano also brings technology experience to health care clients. He handled transaction management and HIPAA compliance and provided strategic advice to an executive leadership team. He is experienced in strategic acquisitions, negotiating software licensing and subscription agreements, and negotiating and managing outsourcing transactions with cross-border technology partners.
Mr. Catalano was general counsel and privacy officer at a health care software company, where he focused on transactions, including the acquisition of a digital marketing company, negotiating license and SaaS agreements with hospital customers, strategic initiatives, and corporate compliance. His in-house experience also includes chief operating officer, corporate secretary, and general counsel for a Nashville, Tennessee-based privately funded health care development company that launched and operated a CLIA lab and a disease management company; vice president of finance for the largest gaming entertainment company in the U.S.; and senior development counsel for the largest U.S. public pharmacy benefits management companies. Mr. Catalano has also served on various boards, including the Bill L. Harbert Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and a private equity-backed renewable chemical company, along with various nonprofit boards.
