Baker Donelson Adds Former In-House Counsel Michael A. Catalano to Corporate Group in Birmingham

Michael Catalano, an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in various in-house leadership roles, has joined the law firm of Baker Donelson in Birmingham as of counsel in the Firm's Corporate Group.

Mr. Catalano, whose leadership roles have included chief operating officer and several general counsel positions, has worked in highly regulated industries such as health care, technology, gaming, government contracts, contract research, life sciences, and engineering. He is experienced in strategic acquisitions, negotiating software licensing and subscription agreements, and negotiating and managing outsourcing transactions with cross-border technology partners.

As general counsel and privacy officer at a health care software company, Mr. Catalano focused on transactions, including the acquisition of a digital marketing company, negotiating license and SaaS agreements with hospital customers, strategic initiatives, and corporate compliance. He also handled transaction management and HIPAA compliance.

Mr. Catalano's experience also includes roles as chief operating officer, corporate secretary and general counsel for a privately funded health care development company; vice president of finance for the largest gaming entertainment company in the U.S.; and senior development counsel for one of the largest U.S. public pharmacy benefits management companies.

A graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, Mr. Catalano holds an M.B.A. from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management and earned his Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University.
