Patton Hahn talked with The Deal Pipeline about Detroit's eligibility to proceed through bankruptcy with pension liabilities.
"I don't think there was any chance that Detroit wasn't going to be allowed to continue in bankruptcy," said Mr. Hahn.
Mr. Hahn, who said he was surprised the eligibility ruling also permitted the city to cut pensions, said the decision would likely streamline the process by forcing negotiations to begin sooner.
