When the Dog Bites: Health Care Employer Responsibilities for Patient (and Employee) Comfort Animals

Webinar

With the proliferation of people with service animals and comfort animals in all aspects of public life, the demand on health care facilities of all kinds to accommodate these animals – whether accompanying a patient, an employee, or a member of the public – is growing at a rapid pace. Your facility is responsible for knowing the law about when you must accommodate an animal on premises, and when you do not have to, along with all the steps you must take to protect your patients and your employees from the inherent risks of such animals.

This presentation will teach you the basics of accommodations required under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act; identify the ways in which you can prepare your facility and your employees for animal accommodation requests; and detail the pitfalls of getting the accommodation wrong that you should avoid.
