Baker Donelson's Statement of Support and Solidarity

This past week has been exceptionally difficult, with shocking scenes of racial injustice, senseless loss of life, and the same patterns and tragic outcomes we have seen countless times before. We feel genuine anguish and frustration, as we have seen prior answers and actions bring only fleeting commitments while the cycle of violence continues. We refuse to stand silently and idly by as racial injustices persist.

To our African-American and other diverse colleagues, clients and communities, Baker Donelson supports you and stands in solidarity with you. We will be a voice of love and justice with you. We will do the hard and long overdue work of enacting real change. We will be not only allies but advocates. We will increase our work to protect and expand human rights and advance social justice for all. We will work to ensure that the law is applied justly and equally, that justice is accessible to all, that this senselessly repetitive cycle is broken.

Baker Donelson makes this compact with our clients, colleagues and friends: We will work tirelessly to effect change in our communities and our world and to ensure that equality before the law, a bedrock principle of this nation, is upheld now and in the future.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu said that "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Clients, colleagues and friends, Baker Donelson will not be neutral. We hope you will join us to effect lasting change.
