Joe Hack Joins The Daschle Group

The Daschle Group, A Public Policy Advisory of Baker Donelson, announces the addition of Joe Hack, who joins as vice president.

Prior to joining The Daschle Group, Mr. Hack spent 12 years as a senior advisor in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, including more than six years as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (NE). In that role, he acted as the senator's closest advisor on all policy, communications, and campaign operations. He initially served Sen. Fischer as Communications Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. Prior to that, he worked for Senate Whip Jon Kyl as Communications Director and chief spokesman. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Hack served as Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant for Rep. J. Randy Forbes (VA-04). He began his career in the office of Senator George Voinovich (OH).

Tom Daschle, The Daschle Group's founder and chief executive officer, said, "In the Senate, every vote matters, and that's never more true than when the body is split 50-50. We faced this situation 20 years ago, when I was Democratic Leader and President Biden was one of my close colleagues. This might sound a little old-fashioned, but we never thought compromise was a dirty word. We always thought it was a healthy part of the process. We knew that if we wanted to get anything done, we had to work with the other side. I still believe that's true. Bringing Joe Hack on our team was a strategic decision to move The Daschle Group in a bipartisan direction with more talent, expertise, and relationships now available to our clients."

Nathan Daschle, president and COO of The Daschle Group, added, "Bringing on Joe Hack is a significant step and part of the overall evolution of The Daschle Group. We want to be the best of the best, and having a diverse team with different backgrounds and points of view will only enhance our ability to represent our clients. Joe is incredibly smart, savvy, and widely respected on both sides. He's a seasoned pro with a strong track record of accomplishments and relationships that will strengthen the services we offer."

As vice president of The Daschle Group, Mr. Hack provides strategic and public policy counsel to a broad range of clients working in health care, energy, defense, and international trade.

Mr. Hack said, "I've always had strong relationships on both sides of the aisle and have a reputation for taking on tough issues for Republicans. Before serving six years as chief, I was a lawyer in communications roles for senior Republicans. This hybrid experience has served me well in understanding the interplay of policy, politics, and messaging and equipped me for this new role."

Mr. Hack chaired the Senate Republican Chiefs of Staff Working Group, which convenes all Republican chiefs of staff and committee staff directors each week for strategy and discussion. In addition, he co-chaired the Stennis Center's "Bipartisan Defense Dialogues," an informal dinner series with top defense policy aides and senior military commanders.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Georgetown University and the George Washington University School of Law, Mr. Hack was recognized in 2017 by POLITICO as a top Senate operative in the "New Guard" Power List, a guide described as "crucial to understanding the players who are breaking through in the all-consuming era of Donald Trump."
