Baker Donelson's Chris Sloan Earns Information Privacy Certification

Share

Chris Sloan of Baker Donelson has earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Originally launched in 2004 as the first professional certification ever offered in information privacy, the CIPP has become the preeminent credential in the field. A CIPP credential means the recipient has gained a foundational understanding of privacy and data protection law and practice, and has knowledge of jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models. Mr. Sloan holds the CIPP/E concentration, which focuses on European and national data protection laws, key privacy terminology and practical concepts concerning the protection of personal data and transborder data flows. The CIPP/E credential demonstrates understanding critical topics like the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and GDPR.

Mr. Sloan, chair of Baker Donelson's Emerging Companies Group, is a shareholder in the Firm's Nashville office. He focuses his practice on start-ups and other emerging businesses and also handles complex software and other IT transactions for both small and large companies. Mr. Sloan frequently serves as outside general counsel for his early-stage clients, assisting them with business planning and formation, venture capital funding, mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property law issues. He regularly represents his technology and brick-and-mortar clients in connection with software, IT and other vendor contract negotiations. Mr. Sloan is a member of the Board of Directors for the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, Life Sciences Tennessee and the Nashville Technology Council.
