In recent years there has been a steady increase in the number of claims involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay Act and state wage and hour laws. Even more troubling is the upsurge of class (collective) action lawsuits by plaintiffs' lawyers who have turned to wage and hour lawsuits as their new area of opportunity to leverage multimillion-dollar settlements and huge attorney fee awards.

While the Trump Department of Labor is not as aggressive in enforcement as the former DOL, there are still proposed changes at the agency level challenging long-standing positions concerning exemptions from overtime and compensable hours of work. Learn about the current trends in wage and hour litigation and, more importantly, about the areas we see as the trends for 2019 and beyond.  Among the topics we will cover are:

  • DOL Rulemaking and Actions
    • Overtime (Basics and Updates)
    • Regular Rate
    • Joint Employer
  • Arbitration Waivers
  • EEO-1 Update
  • Trends in Wage and Hour Claims/Litigation
    • Pay Equity
  • Options for Employers
    • Self-Audits
    • PAID Program
