Baker Donelson's Alex Koskey Earns Additional Information Privacy Certification

Alex Koskey has earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Originally launched in 2004 as the first professional certification ever offered in information privacy, the CIPP has become the preeminent credential in the field. A CIPP credential means the recipient has gained a foundational understanding of privacy and data protection law and practice, and has knowledge of jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models. Mr. Koskey holds the CIPP/E concentration, which focuses on European and national data protection laws, key privacy terminology and practical concepts concerning the protection of personal data and transborder data flows. He also earned his CIPP/US concentration from the IAPP in 2018, which focuses on the U.S. Private Sector.

Mr. Koskey is an associate in Baker Donelson's Atlanta office and a member of the Firm's Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team. He regularly counsels clients on a variety of privacy and security issues under state and federal laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the California Consumer Privacy Act. Mr. Koskey's experience also includes assisting clients with developing procedures for risk management, analyzing third-party vendor relationships, consulting on best practices for privacy issues, and responding to data breaches and incidents. He also advises clients on regulatory and compliance issues impacting the financial services industry, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and other federal consumer protection statutes.
