Location:

AGC of East Tennessee
Chattanooga, Tennessee

Date/Time:

September 2, 2009
8:00 AM - 9:30 AM

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has allocated billions of dollars to infrastructure improvements across the country. The money is already flowing into Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama, either directly through federal projects or indirectly through state sponsored projects. This seminar will provide you with some important information that you need to know about the Act. Topics will include:

(a) the oversight you can expect on construction projects financed under the Act;
(b) reporting obligations the Act imposes on contractors working these projects;
(c) why a federal "contractor" or a "subcontractor" under Executive Order 11246 needs to be familiar with affirmative action laws;
(d) some laws benefitting employees working on these projects, such as a new "whistleblower" protection provision; and
(e) the impact of the Act on projects in and around the Chattanooga area.
