Audits and Appeals - A Routine Cost of Doing Business with Medicare [Ober|Kaler]

September 30, 2014

September 30, 2014

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has unleashed an alphabet of auditors to identify overpayments. These auditors are armed with the authority to conduct pre-payment reviews, and post-payment audits, as well as statistical sampling and extrapolation.

Health lawyers Paul Kim and Emily Wein presented this hour-long webinar to provide general counsel the tools to navigate this area. Paul and Emily not only profiled each type of auditor but also outlined the five-step Medicare claims appeal process, which is the singular procedure for contesting the findings of the auditors.
