With a keen focus on bankruptcy matters, Mr. Briggett adeptly represents parties in pre-bankruptcy negotiations, state court insolvency proceedings, commercial foreclosures, and adversary proceedings. Beyond litigation and bankruptcy, he assists clients in resolving debtor/creditor disputes, offering guidance through every stage until a resolution is reached. His extensive experience equips him to craft tailored strategies and adapt flexibly to complex bankruptcy scenarios, ensuring optimal outcomes for his clients.
Mr. Briggett brings a unique experience to his maritime bankruptcy clients, having litigated shipping and offshore service insolvency matters in bankruptcy courts across the nation. His cases have involved a range of maritime issues, such as maritime liens, personal injury claims, vessel finance, preferred ship mortgages, and other admiralty concerns. In addition to his bankruptcy experience, he has a wealth of litigation experience in federal and state trial courts, with ample first-chair trial experience in breach of contract, property disputes, corporate governance, breach of fiduciary duty, admiralty, and banking law.
During law school, Mr. Briggett gained valuable experience in overseeing bankruptcy proceedings as a judicial extern under the guidance of the Honorable Jerry A. Brown, Bankruptcy Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
