Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a medical appliance manufacturer in a lawsuit alleging failure of surgical implant due to design and manufacturing defects.

Professional Biography


For more than 20 years, Mr. Bibbins has focused his practice on commercial litigation and class actions, including products liability, mass torts, and transportation litigation. In class actions, he leverages over 20 years of experience to deliver early risk assessments and identify risk factors, offering defense strategies, and options to clients across various industries. As an engineer-turned-lawyer, Mr. Bibbins brings both legal and technical skills to bear in defense of complex product liability matters involving the design, manufacture, and field performance of commercial and consumer goods ranging from automotive and asbestos-containing products to medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

In addition to defending manufacturers, distributors, and vendors against individual, mass tort, and class action lawsuits, Mr. Bibbins is frequently called upon to provide counsel regarding judicial and jury decision making, trial theme development, and settlement strategies. Over the years, Mr. Bibbins has handled multiple high-profile cases with potential exposure in excess of $100 million.

Mr. Bibbins was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, where he served as a Senior Intelligence Analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Washington, D.C.

  • Successfully litigated an ultra-high exposure products liability case, providing comprehensive risk analysis/assessment and negotiating early resolution on behalf of a national automotive products retailer in a wrongful death lawsuit that resulted in a $1.7 billion verdict against the remaining defendant.

  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a medical appliance manufacturer in a lawsuit alleging failure of surgical implant due to design and manufacturing defects.

  • Served as lead defense counsel in two class action lawsuits against multiple corporate entities. In the more complex case, successfully contested the trial court's first two class certification grants and negotiated a favorable settlement during the appeal of the third certification grant to the Georgia Supreme Court, arguing that the trial court misapplied Georgia law.
