New standards for how much revenue is to be recognized (and when) will replace all existing guidance on franchise fee accounting starting in 2018. At our Summer 2017 Franchise Business Network meeting, we will assess the provisions most applicable to franchisors, including the significant change in the treatment of upfront franchise and area development fees and the importance of reviewing all existing contracts.

In addition, franchise regulators have finalized their guidance for Item 19 in Franchise Disclosure Documents to provide more clarity on what franchisors can and cannot present in this critical part of the FDD. Join us to learn how to take advantage of and avoid pitfalls in the new presentation standards.
