Martha L. Boyd Named Vice Chair of Baker Donelson's Labor & Employment Group

Baker Donelson has named Martha L. Boyd as vice chair of the Firm's Labor & Employment Group.

As vice chair, Ms. Boyd will work with the group's chair, Angie Davis, to oversee the management and strategy of Baker Donelson's national labor and employment practice.

"Martha is an extremely talented attorney and advisor who provides both stellar litigation representation and wise, measured advice to her clients. We're very fortunate to now have those same traits and skills brought to bear in leading our labor and employment practice," said Ms. Davis.

A shareholder in Baker Donelson's Nashville office, Ms. Boyd advises businesses regarding employee leaves of absence, workplace violence, responding to and investigating claims of harassment and discrimination, and the classification of employee and independent contractors. She also assists businesses on the use of noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements for employees.

Ms. Boyd serves as co-leader of Baker Donelson's Coronavirus Task Force, and over the course of the pandemic has been a go-to resource for employers on COVID-19 issues in the workplace, such as vaccine mandates and employee protocols.

Ms. Boyd is listed in Best Lawyers in America® for Employment Law – Management (2014 – 2022); Litigation – ERISA (2015 – 2022); Litigation - Labor and Employment (2019 – 2022); and Commercial Litigation (2021 – 2022). She was named the Best Lawyers' 2022 Nashville Litigation – Labor and Employment "Lawyer of the Year." A 2016 recipient of Nashville Business Journal's "Women of Influence" award, Ms. Boyd has been listed in Mid-South Super Lawyers for numerous years and was selected as among the top 50 female attorneys in the Mid-South in 2021. A U.S. Army veteran, Ms. Boyd was among the inaugural class of veterans recognized by the Nashville Business Journal in its 2015 Veterans Awards, honoring military veterans leading in Nashville businesses. She is past president of the Board of Directors of Operation Stand Down Tennessee, a veterans nonprofit.
