Leonard C. Martin Appointed ACTEC Mississippi State Chair

(Jackson, MS/April 25, 2012) Leonard C. "Len" Martin of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been appointed State Chair of Mississippi for the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). His Chair appointment is a one-year term with presumptive appointments for a total of five years.

ACTEC is a prestigious national organization of approximately 2,600 highly-credentialed trust and estate lawyers who are peer-elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors. Its members work to teach those who aspire to enter the field and to improve and reform laws, procedure and standards while working with their peers and other professional organizations.

Mr. Martin, who is a shareholder in the Firm's Jackson office, concentrates his practice in the areas of taxation, trusts and probate, planned giving and non-profit organizations. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and a Certified Financial Planner. Mr. Martin has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice areas of trusts and estates and non-profit/charities law, and by Mid-South Super Lawyers. He holds an AV® Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible recognition for legal ability and ethical standards. He is a Fellow of ACTEC, former president of the Financial Planning Association of Mississippi and past chair of the Tax Section of the Mississippi Bar Association. A 1980 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Mr. Martin also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida.
