Barry W. Ford Receives Capital Area Bar Association Professionalism Award

(Jackson, Miss./July 24, 2012) Barry W. Ford of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been recognized by the Capital Area Bar Association with its 2012 Professionalism Award.

The Capital Area Bar Association is a 75-year-old organization of lawyers in metropolitan Jackson, Mississippi. The Professionalism Award recognizes an attorney who has "demonstrated consistent adherence to professional standards of practice, ethics, integrity, civility, and courtesy; encouraged respect for, and avoided abuse of, the law and its procedures, participants, and processes; shown commitment to the practice as a learned profession, to the vigorous representation of clients, and to the attainment of the highest levels of knowledge and skill in the law; and contributed significant time and resources to public service."

A State Circuit Trial Judge for more than ten years prior to joining Baker Donelson, Judge Ford is a shareholder in the Firm's Jackson office and a member of the Firm's board of directors. He concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability and commercial litigation, but he has successfully defended cases in the areas of medical negligence, labor and employment and insurance premium offsets. Judge Ford has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice areas of personal injury litigation and product liability litigation; by Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers; and by Mid-South Super Lawyers. In 2010, he was named to the Mississippi Business Journal's "Leadership in Law," which recognizes the state's 50 leading legal professionals based on their professional and community achievements.

A graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Judge Ford is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a recipient of the Mississippi Majesty Award (2008) and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's Drum Major for Justice Award (1998).
