Baker Donelson Adds Bankruptcy Attorney Susan Mathews

(Houston, TX / April 11, 2013) Baker Donelson announces the addition of Susan Mathews to the Firm's Houston, Texas office.

Ms. Mathews, who joins as of counsel and a member of Baker Donelson's Financial Institutions Advocacy Group, is a bankruptcy attorney with a national practice representing Chapter 11 trustees and examiners, debtors, creditors and creditors' committees in all facets of bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation. Her experience includes contested stay litigation, debtor-in-possession credit facilities, drafting of plan and disclosure statements, claims objections, preference and fraudulent transfer litigation, and related matters. She also represents purchasers in asset sales and residential mortgage lenders and servicers in bankruptcy cases and state court litigation.

A 1984 graduate of St. Mary's University School of Law, Ms. Mathews previously served for five years as in-house counsel for a NYSE Fortune 500 REIT. She is a member of the board of directors for the Spring Branch Education Foundation, the City of Hedwig Village Planning and Zoning Commission, the Houston Hearts Chapter of the National Charity League, and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Houston, Inc. Ms. Mathews is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Moller Foltz Inns of Court, the Houston Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, as well as the American, Houston and Texas Bar Associations.
