In this capacity, Ms. Hugunine represents developers in connection with the purchase, financing, sale and leasing of commercial real estate, including retail and mixed use developments. She has significant experience representing both landlords and tenants in the drafting and negotiation of leases for both national and regional retail and restaurant tenants as well as experience in the negotiation of leases for electric vehicle charging stations. She is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers.
Ms. Hugunine also has experience representing clients in banking law, general corporate and public finance. She has advised both borrowers and lenders in financing transactions as well as purchasers in complex asset acquisitions. She has also served as bond counsel, issuer's counsel and underwriter's counsel with respect to financings for county and municipal governments and governmental instrumentalities throughout Alabama.
Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Ms. Hugunine worked at Regions Financial Corporation, where she was responsible for facilitating the company's efforts in implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the federal prohibition of unfair, deceptive or abusive acts or practices.
Before attending law school, Ms. Hugunine worked for several years in accounting and finance, first as a member of the Transactional Advisory Group with Arthur Andersen LLP, then as an Investment Strategy Analyst with Citadel Investment Group, a Chicago-based investment firm. In those positions, Ms. Hugunine gained exposure to clients and portfolio companies in a wide variety of industries, including the energy, financial services, automotive, chemical and semiconductor sectors. Ms. Hugunine is a Certified Public Accountant in Alabama.*
