Paul Madden is an associate in Baker Donelson's Nashville office and a member of the Advocacy Department. Paul represents general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners in both the prosecution and defense of claims arising out of construction projects. He serves clients in numerous industries, including manufacturing, energy, commercial and mixed-use construction. Paul regularly advises clients in claim avoidance and mitigation strategies, but he has successfully resolved claims through mediation, arbitration, and trial when necessary.
Paul's vast experience includes construction payment issues, scope of work and change orders, construction and design defects, schedule issues, and material availability and price escalation. He regularly counsels his clients on contractual and statutory issues, including state-specific issues such as lien laws, prompt payment statutes, and contractor licensing.
In addition to his construction experience, Paul represents clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including general contractual disputes, business torts, and insurance defense.
While in law school, Paul served as a law clerk with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance where he drafted rules and regulations for statutory adoption.
