Paul concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions, the formation and restructuring of companies, joint ventures, strategic alliances, commercial contracting, corporate governance, and general business matters. He works with clients to understand their business objectives and to help achieve their goals through transactions that build or capture the value of their company. In his role, Paul also serves as outside general counsel for companies across a wide breadth of industries, including the automotive manufacturing, automotive technology, clean energy technology, and pharmaceutical industries.
Paul also represents general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners in both the prosecution and defense of claims arising out of construction projects. He serves clients in numerous industries, including manufacturing, energy, commercial and mixed-use construction. Paul regularly advises clients in claim avoidance and mitigation strategies, but he has successfully resolved claims through mediation, arbitration, and trial when necessary.
Paul's vast experience includes construction payment issues, scope of work and change orders, construction and design defects, schedule issues, and material availability and price escalation. He regularly counsels his clients on contractual and statutory issues, including state-specific issues such as lien laws, prompt payment statutes, and contractor licensing.
