Overview

Ms. Collins enjoys a diversified litigation practice with both local and national clients, who appreciate her ability to understand the obstacles they face, find economical solutions, and build relationships while managing adversity.

Ms. Collins advises clients facing the threat of government enforcement actions and offers full-spectrum legal services to entities and individuals involved in any phase of government investigations. She has represented organizations and professionals in the health care industry in investigations and actions involving allegations of qui tams under the False Claims Act, fraud, and other health care violations. She has also conducted internal investigations for companies involving alleged corporate wrongdoing and employment discrimination.

She also defends municipalities and their law enforcement officers as well as federal agents from civil rights claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, state constitutional law, and tort law. In this area, Ms. Collins is a part of a litigation team that has developed a strong track record of resolving cases early and favorably by dispositive pretrial motions. Other areas of her practice include: representing corporate and individual fiduciaries, and beneficiaries in trust and estate-related disputes; representing companies in government contract disputes or accused of procurement fraud; defending International P&I Clubs and their members in Jones Act-related matters; and prosecuting and defending entities in general commercial litigation.

The cornerstone of Ms. Collins's practice is her significant experience in defending motor carriers and their drivers in casualty and personal injury litigation. She is adept in all aspects of pre-litigation evidence collection, including accident response, expert coordination, damages assessment, and asset retention. Ms. Collins is also well-versed in securing advantageous settlements for local, national, and international clients seeking resolutions outside of trial.

Before joining the Firm, Ms. Collins clerked for United States Magistrate Judge Jane M. Virden in Greenville, Mississippi. Ms. Collins is admitted to practice in Alabama, Maryland, Mississippi, and Texas.

  • Obtained dismissal in favor of a mechanical contractor in defense of a complaint for breach of contract, fraud, and conspiracy.

  • On behalf of non-profit organization, obtained dismissal of allegations of Title VII misconduct under the Americans with Disabilities Act, defamation, interference with business relations, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
