Professional Biography


Kirsten Vesel is an associate in Baker Donelson's Houston office and a member of the Advocacy Department. She advises clients on a wide range of litigation matters, including commercial, construction, energy, environmental, insurance, government investigations and professional liability.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Kirsten served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Jennifer Caughey, First Court of Appeals of Texas.

  • Represented a large financial institution in a dispute for fraud related to foreclosure proceedings. Conducted depositions of the mortgagees to support a successful summary judgment motion dismissing all claims against the client.

  • Prepared a successful appellate brief in defense of an investment management firm in an appeal to the Texas Court of Appeals challenging the award to the client in a condemnation proceeding.

  • Advised a residential and commercial insurance carrier in the negotiation of settlement of lawsuits for first-party claims in major catastrophes.

  • Represented a life insurance carrier in the settlement of a contested life insurance claim under policy limits.

  • Represented the executor in an emergency temporary administration of an estate in which the decedent's limited liability company was without leadership.

  • Represented a real estate brokerage firm in a suit and negotiation, recovering its earned commission on an exclusive right-to-sell contract.
