Jonathan DeLuca represents clients in business disputes and is a member of the Firm's Construction Group.

Professional Biography

Mr. DeLuca represents clients in the construction industry in general litigation matters and business disputes. His experience includes handling complex civil matters for various large corporations, as well as white-collar criminal business cases and RICO claims. He has appeared in matters before both state and federal courts, and has experience in jury trials and oral arguments.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mr. DeLuca represented a large regional electric utility company in multiple construction litigation matters arising out of the construction of a nuclear power plant. He also represented major manufacturers in various products liability and wrongful death actions.

While in law school, Mr. DeLuca worked as a summer clerk for U.S. District Court Judge William E. Cassady of the Southern District of Alabama.

  • Served as outside general litigation counsel for two regional subsidiaries of a Fortune 200 electric utility company.

  • Defended a client in federal court in lien actions and construction disputes regarding the construction of a $25 billion nuclear power plant.

  • Defended a client in a mineral rights dispute over valuable deposits of lignite coal used to fuel a state-of-the-art integrated combined-cycle gasification power plant.

  • Represented a client in contract litigation associated with carbon dioxide byproduct of a power plant.

  • Represented a health care provider in a negligent/wrongful death case, obtaining a zero-dollar defense verdict after a five-day trial; sat second chair and cross-examined multiple key witnesses.

  • Represented several physicians on breach of partnership agreement claims and obtained judicial decree holding client's adverse non-compete provisions to be unenforceable.

  • Represented a major bank in a contract dispute related to a complex synthetic fraud scam involving multiple businesses across the greater Atlanta area.

  • Represented a high-profile client in a federal indictment, including drafting multiple pre-trial motions, and a multi-day evidentiary hearing resulting in the suppression of substantial evidence.

  • Represented a top recording label and major entertainer in a dispute against other entertainers in a multi-million-dollar vicarious liability and RICO action, including the preparation and taking of confidential depositions and hearings.

  • Represented the State of Georgia in an election challenge brought by a presidential candidate in 2020; participated as the senior associate of the legal team; successfully obtained dismissals of both state and federal challenges after briefing and hearings.
