Professional Biography

Jené Clayton is an attorney in Baker Donelson's New Orleans office where she assists clients in litigation matters involving environmental and energy laws.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Jené served as a legal intern with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) where she worked on matters involving environmental statutes such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Atomic Energy Act, Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Her work with the DOE included conducting document review on memorandums of understanding, consent orders, and implementation documents regarding the remediation of contaminated sites. Jene also served as an in-house counsel intern with Union Pacific Railroad where she worked on matters pertaining to compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and on an array of environmental matters dealing with the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and CERCLA.

Jené received her Master of Laws in Environmental and Energy Law from Georgetown University Law Center.
