David has vast experience advocating on behalf of various insurance trade associations and insurance companies, and has drafted and helped to pass major insurance legislation in Tennessee. David defends his insurance clients in disputes and litigation, and also helps oversee their acquisitions, regulatory issues and insolvency matters.

David previously served as the general counsel to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (1974 – 1981) and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
