Baker Donelson's John M. Scannapieco Named British Honorary Consul for Tennessee


The British Ambassador to the United States, Sir Kim Darroch, has appointed John M. Scannapieco of the law firm Baker Donelson Honorary Consul from Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Tennessee.

As Honorary Consul, Mr. Scannapieco will promote the interests of the United Kingdom, including promoting trade and investment in the U.K. and assisting British companies and individuals doing business in the United States. Mr. Scannapieco will also provide support in Tennessee to the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. and the British Consulate in Atlanta, Georgia.

The government and peoples of the United Kingdom and Tennessee enjoy close bonds and John's appointment demonstrates our commitment to growing these ties," said Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford, British Consul General in Atlanta. The British Consulate General in Atlanta represents the U.K. government in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

A shareholder in Baker Donelson's Nashville office and co-leader of the Firm's Global Business Team, Mr. Scannapieco assists U.S. and foreign clients in connection with the sale or disposition of assets, as well as the negotiation and drafting of distribution, manufacturing, employment and agency agreements throughout the world, including the United States, Central and South America, Europe and Asia. He works with a variety of U.S.-based companies in connection with their business activities in China, Europe, the Americas and Africa. Mr. Scannapieco also assists U.S. manufacturing companies with their activities overseas and foreign companies desiring to expand operations to the United States.

Mr. Scannapieco has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers in International Law. He is a board member of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's International Business Council and chairman of the board of the Japan American Society of Tennessee. He also serves as a board member for Belmont University's Center for International Business, Tennessee-China Network and the Tennessee World Affairs Council.
