Baker Donelson's Ashley L. Thomas Earns Information Privacy Certification

Ashley L. Thomas of Baker Donelson has earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Originally launched in 2004 as the first professional certification ever offered in information privacy, the CIPP has become the preeminent credential in the field. A CIPP credential means the recipient has gained a foundational understanding of privacy and data protection law and practice, and has knowledge of jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models. Ms. Thomas holds the CIPP/E concentration, which focuses on European and national data protection laws, key privacy terminology and practical concepts concerning the protection of personal data and transborder data flows.

Ms. Thomas, an associate in Baker Donelson's Washington, D.C. office, is a member of the Firm's Health Law Group and the Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team. She focuses her practice in health care with a concentration on hospital and health system matters, regulatory, antitrust and compliance issues, corporate transactions and hospital/physician alignment. Ms. Thomas provides services to an array of health care providers and has provided counsel on HIPAA compliance investigations and data breaches. She has also offered guidance on policy issues related to the use of telehealth, mobile health and related information technology platforms.
