Baker Donelson is pleased to announce the arrival of Scott Sargent to the Firm's Financial Services Transactions Group.

Mr. Sargent joins Baker Donelson's Birmingham office, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the financial and legal services industries. His practice will focus on traditional loan closing services, regulatory advice and consulting, loan workout and bankruptcy and government relations. Mr. Sargent has experience advising community, regional and international banks on regulatory compliance and risk management, counseling his clients on the day to day regulatory compliance and corporate risks that go along with running a bank including vendor management, contracts, bank operations, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory analyses, examinations and responses.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mr. Sargent spent more than 16 years in-house at a large commercial bank as Assistant General Counsel, Senior Vice President and Assistant Secretary, during which time he provided primary legal support to all consumer and commercial products and operations and ultimately managed a team of attorneys who provided legal oversight and advice for all bank operations, international agreements and offshoring, Treasury Management, international money remittances and Political Action Committees.

"Scott is a highly skilled attorney with a tremendous level of experience and in-depth knowledge of the legal and financial services industries that will make him a key asset to our team as we continue to serve clients throughout the country," said Timothy M. Lupinacci, chair of Baker Donelson's Financial Services Department. "We believe Scott will enhance our group's capabilities and achieve continued growth and success and we are happy to welcome him to our team of outstanding professionals."

A graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Sargent is a member of the Alabama and American Bar Associations, as well as the Federal District Court Bar. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Alabama Business Council and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
