Baker Donelson Adds Ivan A. Boatner to Government Enforcement and Investigations Group


Ivan Boatner has joined Baker Donelson's Knoxville office as of counsel and is a member of the Firm's Government Enforcement and Investigations Group.

Mr. Boatner has more than 20 years of experience in the government sector, including representing and advising the government and contractors in a variety of matters such as contract claims and compliance, the False Claims Act, Federal Tort Claims Act, employment disputes and whistleblower cases. His background gives him a thorough understanding of the laws and regulations relevant to doing business with the government and the Department of Energy (DOE) in particular.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Mr. Boatner served as general counsel for Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) where he oversaw all legal matters. He was also responsible for contractor assurance activities such as environment, safety, and health (ES&H), security, quality, project management and internal audit. Mr. Boatner previously served as a federal litigation attorney for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Operations. He is a member of the Department of Energy Contractor Attorneys' Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Mr. Boatner, a native of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, serves on the board of directors for the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce and for the Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation.
