W. Scott Welch Receives Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association Lifetime Achievement Award

(Jackson, MS/February 15, 2012) W. Scott Welch of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been recognized by the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Founded in 1965, MDLA is a statewide association of attorneys who practice primarily in the defense of civil litigation. MDLA has an active membership of more than 650 attorneys. The MDLA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an attorney who has practiced defense law for 40 years or longer and has significantly advanced the ideals of the MDLA.

Mr. Welch, who is a shareholder in the Firm's Jackson office, concentrates his practice in commercial disputes, lawyers' professional liability and disciplinary actions (including service as an expert witness), financial services litigation and insurance coverage issues, along with personal injury, business tort, commercial transportation and product liability litigation, and first-party insurance disputes. He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice areas of personal injury litigation, commercial litigation, product liability litigation and transportation litigation; by Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers; and by Mid-South Super Lawyers, where he was listed among the top 50 attorneys in the state of Mississippi. In 2011, Mr. Welch was named the Best Lawyers' Jackson, Mississippi Personal Injury Litigator of the Year. Mr. Welch is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America and was named a Lawdragon 500 leading lawyer for five consecutive years. He is currently serving a three-year term as Mississippi State Chair for the Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
