Date/Time:

November 12, 2009

Presented by the Construction Law Group of Baker Donelson and the Associated Builders & Contractors of West Tennessee

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has allocated billions of dollars to infrastructure improvements across the country. The money is already flowing into Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama, either directly through federal projects or indirectly through state-sponsored projects. This seminar will provide you with some important information that you need to know about the Act.

Topics will include:

  • The oversight you can expect on construction projects financed under the Act.
  • Reporting obligations the Act imposes on contractors working these projects.
  • An overview of Small Business Administration programs, including the new American Recovery Capital (ARC) loan program.
  • Federal Government programs for Minority Business Enterprises and Women Business Enterprises.
  • Why a federal "contractor" or a "subcontractor" under Executive Order 11246 needs to be familiar with affirmative action laws.
  • The impact of the Act on projects in and around the Memphis area.
