Baker Donelson recently partnered with ALM Legal Intelligence to produce the Corporate Counsel Agenda Southeast Report. The report shows that general counsel across the region are more optimistic about economic prospects, but cyberattacks and data security pose significant threats. In this Memphis Business Journal article, Mark Glover, Memphis office managing shareholder, comments on the survey's findings regarding companies' plans for expansion in the Southeast.
"It's been somewhat gradual, but there's been steady increase in manufacturing and factory jobs in the Southeast as those have moved from the traditional areas in the Midwest and Northeast. Even companies from outside the United States have been setting up manufacturing facilities in the Southeast. There's been a competitive environment where the government has set up tax incentives for the establishment of regional facilities in the Southeast," Mr. Glover says.
