Speakers

  • Nic Vescovo
    Associate, Baker Donelson
Nic Vescovo, an associate in Baker Donelson's Intellectual Property Group, will speak on two intellectual property issues that breweries confront from the start: trademarks and trade secrets. He will discuss how the craft brewing industry's past approach to resolving trademark disputes without litigation is now giving way to increased lawsuits as the industry continues its exponential growth. He will also address trade secret issues that brewers face and ways to protect their recipes with confidentiality agreements.
  • Matthew McLaughlin
    Of Counsel, Baker Donelson
Undertaking any entrepreneurial endeavor can be a daunting task, and it gets even more complicated when doing so in a highly regulated environment like the one that governs the manufacture and sale of alcoholrelated products. Founders of startup and early-stage craft breweries have very unique and specific needs, and Matthew will discuss the top 12 mistakes he sees most often. Leave with practical, actionable advice on developing an intellectual property strategy, how best to enter a new market, and tips on the three-tier system and tied house laws.

Program is complimentary.
